Norah made a home for her roly poly. Unfortunately he didn't survive.
I made bread in my new, used bread machine from Goodwill. After years of making fun of people who bought bread machines in the 90's, Jared decided we might need one. After all you never know when there will be a pandemic and you can't get any bread at the grocery store. My first try was a great success!
Norah made so much progress riding her bike that Jared doesn't need to walk beside her anymore. Now we all go riding together in the morning or at lunch. Norah is a little big for her current bike and the other bike we have is too big for her. We are trying to find one that fits her just right.
The kids did school work this week even though the school doesn't officially start distance learning until tomorrow. Norah's teacher told her about a coding program on their school website and she spent hours making video games.
We spent a lot of time outside every day. The weather has been great. Besides riding bikes we go on walks, jump rope, play catch, swing, and jump on the trampoline. Jared replaced the headlights on my car during spring break and last week he replaced the headlights on his truck. He had to take the entire front end off of my car and it looked really funny. I didn't get a picture, though.
On Friday Mr. Richard did a live concert from his home on his Facebook page. Brock was super excited. Both kids enjoyed dancing to Mr. Richard!
Norah began piano lessons at the beginning of the month. Her last 2 lessons she had to do on Facebook video chat. We do them on Saturdays so Jared won't be disturbed while he is working. Brock has also been playing the piano. He learned several songs on his own.
By far the most exciting thing the past week was picking up our daily school breakfast and lunch rations. The school district is giving out school breakfast and lunch daily to any child. You don't even have to go to school. Normally I wouldn't take a government handout, but since the government has shut everything down including the parks and is imprisoning me in my home I decided that a daily drive to school for "free" food is a good idea. We get out of the house and we get an exciting surprise. Jared recently started watching Steve1989 on youtube. He opens old military rations, describes them, and eats them. It's educational and hilarious. So, we treat our school meals the same way. If you haven't seen Steve1989 you should check him out.
Tuesday's haul: chicken nuggets, emoji tater tots, chips, chocolate milk, and juice for lunch. Breakfast was chocolate muffin, cheese stick, pears, and chocolate milk. Score for me and Jared because the kids don't like chocolate milk. Norah has tried the school nuggets before and didn't like them so that meant Jared and I shared them. Scale of 1-5 rating: 2.
Wednesday: Pizza, applesauce, milk, and juice for lunch. Pop tart, cheese stick, orange, juice and milk for breakfast. Score again!!! They accidentally gave us 3 instead of 2!!! Rating:4.
Thursday: Uncrustable, chips, applesauce, juice, and milk for lunch. Blueberry muffin top, cheese stick, applesauce, milk, and juice for breakfast. Have you ever eaten and Uncrustable? I definitely felt like Steve1989 when I opened it up and tried it. First of all, it's 600 calories. Obviously we are not on the Michelle Obama school lunch program. It has about 5 times the normal amount of peanut butter you would put on a pb&j sandwich. I cut it in half and squeezed out most of the pb and then ate half of it. Even for someone who loves peanut butter as much as I do it was too much. At least we got more chocolate milk. Rating:1.
Friday: Fail!!! Uncrustables again. Plus chips, applesauce, milk, and juice. Breakfast was the same too - Muffin tops, applesauce, cheese stick, milk, and juice. At least I am getting a nice supply of chips, applesauce, and cheese sticks for when there is nothing left in the grocery store.
