Tropical Storm Fay
Last week Tropical Storm Fay hit Florida. Brock and I were stuck in the house all week. We were not able to make it to story time or church services on Wednesday. We only got to swing on the back porch once, and it was raining then too, but the wind wasn't blowing it into the porch. It rained, and rained, and rained. I didn't know it could rain so hard for so long. It was also very windy. Thankfully we did not have flooding in our area or wind damage to our house. On Thursday, the 4th day of the storm it got really bad in the afternoon and I heard several loud whacks and thuds on the roof. Then our power went out. It was around 5:00. Our kitchen is in the center of our house so we didn't even have light coming in from a window. Instead of feeding Brock by flashlight, he ate his supper in his room. Jared picked up McDonald's for us and we ate in Brock's room too. The power was out for about 3 hours, and just before the Olympics came on TV, the power came on. We were so happy. However, about 20 minutes later it went out again, during Brock's bedtime story time. Below is story time by flashlight.

Brock is 9 Months Old!
Brock turned 9 months old yesterday. He is growing so fast. I took him to the photographer to have his portrait made and he refused to smile, but we still got some cute pictures. There's not much news this week - almost crawling, eating more Cheerios, refusing to eat his other food, trying to watch the Olympics, still has only one tooth, and he went to the library story time for the first time. He either didn't like it or he was scared of the library lady (I thought she was scary). He was fine before it started and was playing with a little girl but when the library lady started singing he made the super sad face and then started crying. I managed to settle him down but he did it a couple more times. We will try again next week and maybe he will like it better. Here are a few pictures from this week.

Brock Has a Tooth!
Tonight after dinner Brock was in a great mood, laughing and talking, and having lots of fun. We ate at a barbeque restaurant downtown and he seemed to like the atmosphere. Suddenly he grabbed my hand and put it in his mouth and I felt something rough. At first I thought he had something in his mouth and then it hit me - it's a tooth!
