Brock's Playground

Brock loves opening cabinet drawers so much that his favorite playground is the Lowe's kitchen cabinet design department. We went there they other day just to play and got this video. You can also see how well he walks now.

15 Months Old

I haven't blogged in a while because Jared's been working so much overtime and I just haven't been able to get it together, so I will try to provide a good update of everything that's been going on here the past few weeks.

The last week in January our friends from Ohio came to visit. We took Brock bowling for the first time. He was very frustrated because all he wanted to do was crawl down the lanes and I wouldn't let him.

The kids went on a wagon ride to the park. Brock loved Brandon and Natalie. If they left the room he would get upset and cry sometimes. It was a lot of fun having someone to play with.

After our company left we got back into our routine, except for Daddy working late. Brock began walking a lot the last week in January and now he walks everywhere. At first he couldn't walk as fast as he could crawl, so if he needed to hurry he would get down on his knees and take off. Now crawling is much to slow for him.

We went to an Arts Festival one weekend. The weather was perfect so we ate our lunch down by the lake and let Brock walk around the park. Looking at all the art made him very sleepy.

Brock's favorite activities are reading books, working puzzles, and riding in his wagon. He will play with toys for a little while, but eventually he finds a book and then brings it to me so we can read it. His favorite books are the ones that have elephants. Sometimes he will flip through the pages to find the ones with the elephants or he will patiently read the book until we get to the page before the elephants. At this point he will decide he needs to skip this page and get to the elephants as soon as possible. He also likes to point at the different animals and objects and have me say the word. He usually has to point at the pictures multiple times before we move on to the next page.

The puzzle routine is very similar to the book routine. He brings the puzzles to me, I dump out the pieces, he hands them to me and I say the word while I put it together or he tries to put the pieces where I show him. After we work the puzzle he then has to point to everything in the puzzle and I say the words.

Below are pictures I took yesterday when we went for our daily wagon ride. He likes to do signs and hold up his toys while riding.

Speaking of signs, Brock is doing a lot more. He could probably learn even more, but I need to learn some new ones myself. His signs include elephant, dog, fish, gorilla, hat, wagon, eat, drink, more, light, bye-bye, book, and bath. He also does mystery signs that I haven't been able to figure out yet.

Finally, I can hardly believe it, but Brock is 15 months old! He has 7 teeth and one more that's barely come through. He's average height, below average weight, and above average head. The doctor says he has big brains.
