Jumping on the Bed

I haven't posted in a while because we've been really busy getting ready for Christmas. Here is some of what Brock has been up to lately.

Brock usually gets excited when it's time to wake up.

He has lots of fun playing with his birthday toys. He likes to play basketball, the piano, and with his mega blocks dump truck. He used to throw all the blocks out but now he likes to put them back in too. He also likes to hand them to me or put them into other containers.

He has the most fun going for rides in his new wagon. He likes to check the mail and then go up and down our street and visit friends. He also likes to go for rides inside the house. If he gets a little cranky a wagon ride always puts him in a better mood.

He also spends time reading the newspaper and looking at the ads to see the new toys.

This week he discovered some new drawers to open.
Sunday night we took his wagon down to the town square and walked around and looked at the Christmas lights.

Brock has also been helping with Christmas. He likes to put presents under the tree.

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

Today is Brock's first birthday and we had a great party to celebrate. Daddy stayed up all night decorating the cake and preparing the food. We had brisket, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans (thank you, Dave and Rhonda), rolls, and I made cookies shaped like a number 1. Brock had 30 guests come to his party. It was so much fun. Brock loved his cake. He kept eating and eating and we thought he was going to eat the whole thing. He opened presents from his friends and one from us. Late in the afternoon Grandmother, Lawrence, Phyllis, and Sara also came to visit and then Brock and I went to Cousin Pam's for supper and Daddy stayed home to catch up on sleep. When Brock and I arrived home we wanted Brock open the rest of his presents, but he was so tired that he will have to open them tomorrow.

Brock's First Halloween

Brock's first Halloween was very busy. There was a family party and trick-or-treating at Jared's office, and they had a contest for best kids' costume, best employee costume, and best jack-o-lantern. Jared's jack-o-lantern this year is a caricature of Brock and he got honorable mention. For the costume contest they had to go up on the stage and there were tons of people so it was very hard to see. I couldn't even see the winners because I am too short. Brock was very good the whole time we were there even though he was missing his nap. His eyes did start watering during the clapping for the costume winners, but he quickly composed himself. Sometimes he gets upset when there is lots of clapping. After the party we ate at Chick-fil-A and then visited our neighbor.

Cute Sleeping Ritual

We left our camera on a tripod in Brock's room last month to see what he does after we put him to bed. Here's his sleep ritual. He pats the bed before he lays his head down. Now he sleeps with a plush Snoopy so he won't be lonely. We'll have to see what he does with Snoopy some other time.

Brock's New Favorite Activity

Brock loves to open and close drawers over and over again. He also likes to see what's inside and take everything out. Playing with the clothes keeps him occupied for a long time.

Halloween Party

Last Saturday night we had a Halloween party at our house. Everyone was required to wear a costume. I made chili, pumpkin bread, and a cheese ball that looked like a pumpkin and all of our friends brought drinks and food too. My favorite food was the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies made by Amy. We voted on the best costumes and played games. The Gingerbread Man won best costume and the Asterisk Hunter won most original costume. I did not get a picture of the Asterisk Hunter in costume. I also did not get a picture of myself in my costume. I was dressed as Adrian from Rocky when Rocky takes her ice skating. Brock's costume was made by Daddy.

11 Months Old!

Brock crawls everywhere, pulls himself up, sits down, and climbs. He can take a couple of steps from one piece of furniture to another. He's also eating lots of food by himself - bananas, peaches, pears, peas, pineapple, green beans, meat, bread, Cheerios, and cake. He loves books, opening and closing drawers, opening and closing doors, door stops, dropping things and picking them up, bouncing balls and chasing them, taking baths, and swinging.
