First Train Ride

Brock and I had a fun outing today. My friend is planning a birthday party for her son and wanted to try out our local train ride to see if that would be fun activity for the kids. We boarded the train in one town and rode to the park in the next town. The kids played in the park and we had a picnic lunch, then rode the train back.

Brock, Austin, and Ashley waiting to board the train.

For most of the train ride we were able to view the beautiful lake.

Brock was very relaxed on the way to the park.

Part of the train route goes down the middle of a street. There are only six places in the country where train tracks run down the middle of a street.

We did have one scary moment. To board the train the man had to pick up the strollers with the kids in them and carry them up the stairs into the train. Once Brock was on the train, the man was coming back down when suddenly the train started moving. The people on the train and the man helping us started yelling to the conductor to stop. Brock got scared and started crying and for a minute I thought I was going to have to run along side the train and grab on and pull myself up to rescue him. Fortunately, that wasn't necessary and the train soon stopped and Brock calmed down.

The day was very tiring for Brock but he never fell asleep in the train or in the car. It was his first day without a nap!
